After working as a CNA and realizing that nursing was not the career choice for me, I felt stuck. I had a medical background and wanted to stay in healthcare, but only had experience as a CNA. Quite honestly, I felt discouraged and did not think there was an educational solution that could work for me.
Community Care Alliance was suggested to me because of their Healthcare Reimbursement Specialist program. I compared their program to others and Community Care Alliance’s program fit better into my schedule and was shorter in length of time. But don’t let the shorter course length lead you to believe it’s an easy program. The Healthcare Reimbursement Specialist program is intense and challenging, but the instructors are incredibly supportive and encouraging, which makes for an excellent learning environment. The “hands-on approach” in class was super helpful in building my confidence and preparing me for a new career.
One of the great resources provided by Community Care Alliance is their Career Development Department. We were given the most current tips on resume building and writing while also having lots of opportunities to brush up on interview techniques and leadership skills.
Upon graduation, I was prepared to take national certification exams for Medical Billing and Coding as well as Electronic Health Records. I successfully achieved those certifications, and they made all the difference between just wanting a great job and getting that great job! I was thrilled when I was recently hired as a patient receptionist with Priority Management Group, in Pawtucket. My new skills in medical billing and coding as well as those in patient services will certainly be put to the test, but I’m confident that I’ll be able handle whatever workload comes my way.
I am so happy I chose Community Care Alliance to help further my education!
