Volunteer Stories

We greatly appreciate the time and talents of individuals and groups who have assisted with our programs, worked to refurbish our space, and helped with our events. Here are a few of their stories.

The Ernst & Young sent this work  crew to help us prepare for winter, giving the grounds a needed cleanup.

Ernst & Young at the Woonsocket Homeless Shelter

Ernst & Young volunteered their time working to spruce up the grounds at the Woonsocket Homeless Shelter.  Volunteers spent 6 hours weeding, raking, and adding mulch to the outside areas. Our grounds look great thanks to all the volunteers from Ernst & Young.

BCBS employees volunteered at Singleton House, making improvements inside and out.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI at Singleton House

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI selected CCA as one of their Blue Across Rhode Island Grants. The grant provided $5000 for project and then 28 employees volunteered their time to paint, clean, landscape CCA’s Singleton Home.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Community Care Alliance has provided free tax preparation for low income individuals and families for over 10 years through the VITA program. Last year we prepared more than 1,200 returns, saving people hundreds of dollars on tax prep fees and helping eligible families access Earned Income Tax Credits. This would not be possible without the continued support of our VITA volunteers, and we give a shout out to Joe and the other Mutual of America volunteers, Chris Bailey and Peter Romano for their time and support.

Volunteering for the VITA program has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. It is always a great feeling to see the smiles of the local residents after I explain to them that they will be receiving a refund check"
