Basic Needs Assistance

Our Family Support Center provides basic needs assistance to low income Woonsocket households and connects families to financial literacy and other programs to strengthen their financial condition. 

The Center serves low-income Woonsocket residents only. Call 401-235-7000 for more information or to make an appointment.

Resources and support includes:

  • Food assistance (USDA food commodities, vouchers to local food pantries, links to other food resources in the community)
  • Utility assistance
  • Prescription assistance
  • Emergency rental & mortgage assistance (very limited)
  • Referral to public & subsidized housing
  • Information, referral and advocacy
  • Assistance through the Milk Fund, a supplemental nutrition program for low-income families. 

    The following documentation is required for all services.

  • Proof of all household income or no income, most recent FIP/food stamp statement, TDI, unemployment statement
  • Picture ID for applicant only
  • Social security cards for ALL household members
  • Proof of birth for ALL household members (birth certificates/RI Medicaid cards)
  • Current rent receipt, current lease, current mortgage statement
  • Current electric, gas/oil bills
  • Documentation of crisis (fire report, doctor’s note, etc…)

Hours:   Mon Wed & Fri 9:00 – 11:30 am & 1:00 – 4:00 pm; Tues 9:00 – 11:30 am (closed every third Tuesday of month) and Thurs 1:00 - 6:00 pm.
