N. Smithfield & Woonsocket Served by Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Households of N. Smithfield and Woonsocket that meet eligibility requirements may access the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, known as LIHEAP, at Community Care Alliance Family Support Center at 245 Main Street in Woonsocket. Grants are administered by the Rhode Island Department of Human Services with applications available at local Community Action Programs. The program supplements the cost of heating and electricity bills. Grants for emergency situations like heat shut-offs, un-repairable heating systems, or inability to pay for deliverable fuels are available on a case-by-case basis.
The program also helps individuals develop a personal action plan to reduce household energy costs and implement conservation measures with the Weatherization Assistance Program.
