CCA Awarded Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS Food Services Grant
The Community Care Alliance Agape program, located in Woonsocket and Providence, serves individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This year the Agape food pantries received a $10,000 Food Services and Delivery Program grant awarded by Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. CCA is one of 131 organizations across the country that will receive $2,454,500, reaching thousands of people facing challenges living with HIV/AIDS and other serious illness. All struggle with diminished community resources and economic uncertainty compounded by COVID-19.
In Rhode Island, CCA’s Agape program provides outpatient services include mental health and substance use counseling, case management, HIV & Hepatitis C testing, nursing and care coordination, as well as a 7-bed transitional housing program for men in Providence. The drop-in centers include a food pantry and personals closet where clients can find necessities.
In March 2020, Broadway Cares moved from the stages and theaters across the country to a virtual world of streamed events, online fundraising and outreach to major donors and tens of thousands of personal donations in order to make this donation possible.
