In the News - Woonsocket's Dignity Bus Set to Open
By BELLA PELLETIERE Valley Breeze Staff Writer bella@valleybreeze.com WOONSOCKET – The Dignity Bus for homeless citizens is days away from the start of operations. Councilor Valerie Gonzalez says this collaboration between the city, state, and community partners is a significant step toward changing the system.
The Dignity Bus made its way to Woonsocket in July after the city purchased it from The Source Ministries to house 20 homeless individuals at Holy Family Church, 414 South Main St. In October, the City Council exempted the bus from zoning restrictions and the city has been finalizing a contract with Community Care Alliance, which will be operating the bus.
