Getting the word out about 988 has been a top priority

On September 11, 2025, Katie Anderson, VP of Acute Services, spoke to 60+ Dimeo Construction Company workers at a construction site in Quonset, North Kingstown, about suicide prevention and behavioral health access via BH Link and 988. Dimeo has ranked among the top 100 construction management companies in the country.

The construction and building trades experience significantly higher rates of opioid overdoses and suicide fatalities, and Katie’s team has been working to expand outreach to the construction industry.

Construction workers:

  • are six times more likely to die by suicide than from job-related injuries

  • are four times more likely to die by suicide than the average American, with an industry-wide suicide rate second only to mining

  • are more likely to suffer from opioid use disorders: in 2022, there were 17 times more overdose deaths in the industry than there were fatal work-related injuries.

Katie manages Community Care Alliance Acute Services programs, overseeing several of our Substance Use Treatment Programs, including, Emergency Services Intake and the Mobile Crisis and Opioid Response Teams, the 988 Call Center, BH Link, the Acute Stabilization Unit, Residential Treatment, Recovery Housing, Intensive and Outpatient Substance Treatment programs, and Ambulatory Detox.
