A Story of Hope

Country road and Recovery written on the road
Recovery can be a long road with many twists and turns and may require many sources of help along the way.

Bill has battled his mental health and addiction nearly all his life, going through a roller coaster of poly-substance misuse, mental health crisis, medical issues, and periods of homelessness. Through many attempts to stop using substances, he was eventually able to maintain his sobriety from drugs. But after experiencing a severe medical emergency, his physical and mental health took a serious hit. Bill continued to drink alcohol when he recovered from his medical emergency and struggled to maintain his sobriety from alcohol.

This set back and struggle did not stop him though. He utilized the Emergency Services (ES) / Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) during the later hours of the night when he was most susceptible to giving in to his cravings. He was open, honest, and candid about his struggles and reached out to MCT during some of his lowest points.

Bill often credits ES/MCT with “getting him sober” and we always remind him that he did the work. He reached out, he called ES/MCT, utilized resources such as peer-recovery lines, attended virtual AA meetings nightly, and engaged with every service he could at CCA.

Bill has over a year of sobriety now. He continues to share his successes and struggles and hopes to be able to inspire others with his story. He credits God, AA, CCA, and his cat for helping him with his sobriety.

Bill wants anyone reading this to know that there is hope, there is recovery, and there is help for anyone struggling.

What can we help you find?
