A Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic
As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Community Care Alliance is nationally certified to provide behavioral health services that meet evidence-based requirements to serve you and your loved ones. We offer:
Who can go to a CCBHC?
CCBHCs are required to serve anyone who requests care for mental health or substance use, regardless of their ability to pay, place of residence, or age. This includes developmentally appropriate care for children and adolescents.
CCBHCs must meet standards for the range of services they provide and are required to get people into care quickly. The CCBHC model requires:
-
Crisis services to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
-
Comprehensive behavioral health services to be available so people who need care don't have to piece together the behavioral health support they need across multiple providers.
-
Care coordination to be provided to help people navigate behavioral health care, physical health care, social services, and the other systems they are involved in.
Do I need to make an appointment to go to a CCBHC?
CCBHCs offer walk-in services during specific hours. Please call or visit the website of a CCBHC near you to learn about their walk-in hours. You may also make an appointment over the phone or online.
What counts as a crisis, and how can a CCBHC help me if I’m in crisis?
A crisis is defined by you. CCBHCs have 24/7 emergency lines you can call for help. A staff person will ask you questions to determine the appropriate level of response (appointment, walk-in, mobile crisis response, or need for emergency response with an ambulance).
Do I need to have health insurance to go to a CCBHC?
No, you do not need to have health insurance to access services at a CCBHC. If you do have health insurance through Medicaid, HealthSource RI, or an employer, staff at the CCBHC will collect your insurance information. If you have questions about cost, please speak
with your provider.
Do CCBHCs provide services for children?
Yes, CCBHCs are required to serve anyone who requests care for mental health or substance use, regardless of their ability to pay, place of residence, or age. This includes developmentally appropriate care for children and adolescents.
When shouldn’t I seek care at a CCBHC?
If you are experiencing a health emergency like severe chest pain, trouble breathing, seizures, or a head injury do not call or go to a CCBHC. You should call 911 or go to the emergency room right away. You should also call 911 if you or someone you care about are in immediate danger of injury or self harm.
